Policies

These policies support safe, effective, and personalized tutoring for every student. Please review them before booking a session. They may be updated over time as my practice grows.

Session participation

Tutoring sessions are designed for one enrolled student at a time. This helps your child stay focused and build confidence in a space that is truly theirs.

  • Only the child who has paid for the service may participate in sessions.
  • Parents and guardians may not join sessions. You are welcome to help with scheduling, login, and setup — but the lesson itself is for your child.
  • Siblings may attend only if each sibling is separately enrolled.
  • It is normal for a family member to appear briefly in the background at home. However, siblings and other adults should not be on camera or actively participating in class activities or discussions.
  • If a background is inappropriate, the student's camera may be turned off and/or microphone muted until the issue is resolved.

Learner safety & well-being

  • All sessions are age-appropriate and designed to support your child's academic growth in a safe environment.
  • I do not use examples or activities that could reasonably lead to physical harm or be interpreted as medical advice.
  • I do not provide financial advice or activities that could reasonably lead to financial harm.
  • I avoid unnecessarily graphic, violent, or disturbing scenarios, even when used as examples.
  • Tutoring sessions are academic support — not therapy, counseling, or treatment of any kind.

Respect & inclusion

  • Every student deserves to feel welcome, respected, and supported.
  • I maintain a professional, kind tone in all sessions and do not discriminate based on beliefs, identity, or background.
  • I do not promote one religion, political stance, or worldview as better than others.
  • Academic content is presented from a secular perspective. Religious history, texts, and traditions may be explored as academic or cultural subjects when relevant.
  • When topics are complex or contested, I present them in a balanced, age-appropriate way and clarify when something is opinion rather than fact.

Privacy, online safety & curriculum

  • I avoid sharing personal identifying information (PII) and gently redirect students who share theirs. PII includes full names, birthdates, home addresses, phone numbers, social media accounts, and similar details.
  • I use curriculum and digital tools that are appropriate for children and COPPA-compliant for learners under 13.
  • Any interactive third-party tools used during sessions are chosen for educational value and age appropriateness.
  • I do not use external tools that display ads or unmoderated user-generated content that may be inappropriate for children.

Session recording

  • I may record sessions for my own internal use — to take notes and guide lesson planning for future classes.
  • Recordings are kept private and are not shared publicly or with other families.
  • Recordings are used solely to improve the quality and personalization of your child's tutoring.

Progress reports

  • Families receive bimonthly progress reports summarizing their child's growth, strengths, and current areas of focus.
  • Reports are sent directly to the parent or guardian on file.

Trial class & enrollment

  • The trial class is $10 — a one-time, no-commitment introductory session.
  • It is assessment-based: I evaluate your child's needs and guide a lesson plan going forward.
  • A completed trial is required before enrolling in any ongoing tutoring plan.
  • Families may book one trial per subject. For example, a Math trial and a separate Reading trial are allowed, but not two Math trials.
  • General tutoring (multiple subjects) counts as its own subject for trial purposes.

Billing & subscriptions

  • Families can book and pay 1 month or 2 months upfront.
  • If a subscription is paid for two months in advance, a 10% discount is offered.
  • Pricing is per class based on session length and weekly frequency.
  • Ongoing enrollment requires a completed trial for the same subject.

Cancellation & rescheduling

  • If a class is canceled or rescheduled within 24 hours of the scheduled class, clients will still be charged.
  • With 24 hours' notice or earlier, the class fee will be reimbursed for cancellation or carried over if rescheduled.
  • Classes rescheduled to take place the same day of the scheduled class incur no additional cost.
